ATM & Debit Card Safety Tips Approaching an Automated Teller Machine (ATM)
Avoid facilities in dark or remote places.
Never enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN) in any terminal that does not look genuine, has been modified, has a suspicious device attached, or is operating in a suspicious manner.
If you see people lurking around the ATM or see any other situation that makes you uncomfortable, find a different machine.
Take another person with you whenever possible.
Have your card ready.
Keep your doors locked and all passenger windows closed if you are using a drive-up ATM. Using the ATM
Block the view of others by cupping your hand over the keypad as you enter your PIN. Stand between the terminal and others who may be waiting to use the machine.
Remove your cash, receipt and card after every transaction.
Pocket cash immediately after your withdrawal. Preventing Fraud
Memorize your PIN. Never write your PIN on your card or anything that you carry near your card.
Do not share your PIN or account number with anyone.
Do not loan anyone your card.
Report lost or stolen cards immediately. Call us during normal business hours and we will place a lock on your card. Or, send us an email with your name, account number, and the date your card was missing. You can be liable for activity on your card if you do not report it as lost or stolen.
Never give your PIN over the phone, especially cellular phones. Card Care
Never expose the magnetic stripe to other magnetic objects, which can deactivate your card.
