ATM, Debit Card and Credit Card Differences

Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Card
How it Works: The money is electronically withdrawn from (or deposited to) your checking or savings account when an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) withdrawal (or deposit) is made. Transactions are tracked on your monthly checking or savings statement.

ATM Use: You may use your ATM card at ATMs to withdraw cash, inquire on balances, transfer funds, and make deposits (when available). Just enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN) at the machine.

Store Use: You may also use your card at stores that accept a PIN to make a purchase through the Shazam Network.

Debit Card
How it Works: The money is electronically withdrawn from (or deposited to) your checking account when an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) withdrawal (or deposit) is made. Money is also electronically withdrawn from your checking account when a purchase is made. Transactions are tracked on your monthly checking statement.

ATM Use: You may use your debit card at ATMs to withdraw cash, inquire on balances, transfer funds, and make deposits (when available). Just enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN) at the machine.

Store Use: You may use your debit card at any store nationwide that accepts Debit MasterCard® or a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to make a purchase.  When you make a purchase that is not PIN-based, your signature is required to authorize the transaction. You may choose to sign your name at merchants where Debit MasterCard® is accepted.

Telephone or Internet Use: You may use your debit card to make purchases with telephone or internet merchants who accept Debit MasterCard®.

Safety Feature: PhotoSecure Debit Cards are available with your signature and photo on the front of the card. This feature provides you with added security and is proven to reduce fraudulent use of your card, should it be lost or stolen. You may register your PhotoSecure Debit Card for free Payment Card Protection if you are a Timeless® Checking Member.

Credit Cards
How it Works: You may charge or get cash advances for any amount up to the established credit limit of your account.

ATM Use: When your credit account allows, you can use your credit card at ATMs along with the PIN provided for your credit card.

Store Use: You may use at stores that accept transactions for the specified credit card. A signature will be required if the purchase is made in person. Other information may be required if you are not at the merchant location.

Telephone or Internet Use: You may use with telephone or internet merchants who accept the specific credit card.
